In Integrated Business Applications, students are given an opportunity
to acquire keyboarding skills
with the goal
of becoming proficient. They are also instructed in the operation of Microsoft
Word, and the set-up and formatting of a variety of business documents.
In the Integrated Business Applications course, in addition to the formatting
of business documents, the students are introduced to the five Career Pathways
that Malden has incorporated into the course criteria for students. The Career
Pathways are, Technology and Engineering, Health and Human Services, Arts, Communication,
& Humanities, International Studies, and Business Marketing & Telecommunication.
They are also introduced to various aspects of the career world, from self-assessment,
review of SCANS skills, occupation researches, developing a resume and cover
letter, and numerous other career awareness projects. Upon completion of this
course, students will be able to make informed career decisions.
