COMPUTER/INTERNET BASICS PROJECT

You
are asked to create a multimedia presentation that explains the computer and
Internet basics to Third Graders Third Graders like to see pictures to demonstrate
different concepts. Therefore, you will be using Paint, Microsoft
Word, and the Internet to complete your project.
PAGE 1 (TITLE PAGE)
- Open Word and
save the document as “Computer Internet Basics
- On the first page
of Word, you should have your name, class #, date, and the title “Computer
Internet Basics”.
***Each page should have a title on the top of
the page to identify the content of page.
PAGE 2 (COMPUTER DESIGN)
- In
paint, draw a picture of a computer
- Label the name
of each part of the computer-You
can either create the labels in Paint or in Word.
In
word you can animate text. Select the text first then click on Format – Font
–Text Effects (Animate).
- Copy
the drawing and paste it into Word on page 2.
- Include the definition of a computer.
- Include
a chart that shows the part and the category it falls under
. (Input, Output, Process, or Store.)

PAGE 3 (BINARY)
On page three, define binary digits in a language that third
graders can understand, including the terms, megabyte, gigabyte, etc..
- Definition of Binary
- In a graphical format, explain the meanings of Byte, Kilobyte, Megabyte,
Gigabyte, etc... (make sure you have the sequence set up correctly)
PAGE 4 (INTERNET)
- Definition of the Internet
- Parts needed to go online
- Take a snap shot of Internet Explorer (Browser) and using
arrows, identify the parts of the window. (at least 5 elements should be identified)
- 8 Terms (from the packet)
PAGE 5 (COPYRIGHT), (PLAGIARISM), & (NETIQUETTE)
**Explain
to the students what Copyright and Plagiarism
are and why they are important terms for 3rd graders to know. Remember to use
pictures, a story, and language that is appropriate for Third Graders.
